Alright! Where to start on a review that I want to gush about but also don’t want to spoil?
Isn’t that always the question though?
When I dig into a new author and grab a book from their logs, I always go with gut instinct. Now this one…this one came to me in a great way, and happened to be just what I needed.
The Bone Reaper was not what I expected it to be honestly.
I’m going to be so honest, I thought I was going to just get a dark story. I was not prepared for the emotions that were actually packed into this book as well.
I was so not prepared for the dynamic that is shown in this book.
And, I was definitely not prepared to absolutely finish it, and immediately go, “I need the physical copy, I need to tab it, I need to highlight it and it needs to sit on my shelf like yesterday”.
Everyone knows dark romance is my thing. I am loud and proud about reading the morally grey, to the horror, to the pitch black, and everything between and outside of that too.
When I dug into The Bone Reaper, I found a story that essentially spoke to me about the issues in the book. I felt the raw and intense emotions, I felt that familiar pang in my head that made me go, “Damn, this is a very well written” - and thats what I crave and want always.
You can tell the author did research or experienced the things in this book. (Hence why I always say dark romance can be therapeutic).
NOW…With that being said, it is a slow burn, but I didn’t mind. It had the tension, the banter, moments of instant gratification as well as prolonged pleasure.
An oxymoron, but the sweetest of serial killer books. And, I AM HERE FOR IT.
If you have not picked up this book yet, I don’t know why you are waiting. Hell I don’t know why I WAITED. But I’m glad that I didn’t wait much longer, and it will quickly become a recommended book of mine.
